A made-to-measure book

Every storybook animal already knows Noah by name — this time they're waiting in a book that's his

Noah is one of the oldest names a boy can carry and one of the easiest to love: soft to say, quick to spell, and famous for a story full of animals. Here's what it looks like on the cover of a book where the hero is your son.

Here's how a book for Noah could look

Pick a theme, upload a photo, and your child becomes the hero of the story — with their name on the cover and inside.

The covers above are samples — the illustrations were created by artificial intelligence and the children in them aren't real. Your book is made from the photo you upload.

Some names have to grow into a book cover. Noah doesn't. Two syllables that open wide on the No- and land gently on the -ah — it reads like a title before you've added one. Set in big letters above an illustration, it holds the space the way only short names can: nothing to trim, nothing to hyphenate, and instantly legible to a boy who is still working out where letters end and pictures begin.

There's something else that makes a storybook a natural gift for a boy called Noah: he has almost certainly heard his name in a story already. The ark, the animals boarding two by two, the long rain and the dove — it's one of the first tales children meet, whether from grandparents, picture bibles or kindergarten. And every single time, the Noah in it is somebody else. A book where the hero is finally him — his face in the illustrations, his name doing the things heroes do in sentences like "Noah tiptoed closer" — quietly turns that around. The name he shares with one of the oldest stories ever told becomes the name of his own.

Being short helps in one more place: read aloud at bedtime, Noah never trips the tired reader. It drops into a sentence as easily as "he" does, so the story keeps its rhythm on the tenth page exactly as it had on the first. And when he starts reading for himself, those four friendly letters will be among the first words he can pick out on a page — there is a particular kind of pride in a boy finding his own name doing brave things in real printed sentences.

Noah goes back to the Hebrew name Noach, built on a root that means rest, quiet and comfort. In the Book of Genesis the name is even explained at the moment it's given: "this one will bring us comfort." It is a rare thing among boys' names — most mean something fierce, like ruler, warrior or wolf, while Noah means the moment the storm ends. For a name that gets whispered over cots and read out at bedtime, it's hard to imagine a better fit.

The ark carried the name a long way. Over roughly three thousand years it has settled into nearly every language, usually changing barely a letter: Noah in English and German, Noé in French, Noè in Italian, Noa in several others. Wherever your family travels, the name on this cover will be understood, pronounced and probably admired.

For most of that long history Noah was a quiet, scholarly sort of name — steady in use but never fashionable. That changed within one generation: in the United States it climbed for three decades and then held the number-one spot on the national boys' chart for four straight years in the mid-2010s, and in recent years it has topped naming charts across much of Europe as well. Part of the appeal is that it belongs to everyone — religious and secular families choose it in equal measure, one for the prophet, the other simply for the sound. Yet unlike most chart-toppers it doesn't read as trendy, because nothing three thousand years old can. A Noah born today gets the rarest combination in naming: a name every teacher can spell on the first try, with roots older than the alphabet she writes it in.

  • Noah — At two syllables the full name is already nickname-sized, and plenty of families never shorten it at all. It's one of the few names that survives from cradle to schoolyard completely untouched.
  • Noey — The bedtime version, pronounced NO-ee. Mostly a parents' word for the preschool years — soft enough for a lullaby, and usually the first form he learns to recognize as his.
  • No-No — Coined, more often than not, by a younger sibling who can't manage the h yet. The double meaning is the charm — half his name, half the household's favorite warning — and it tends to stick as family lore long after everyone can say Noah properly.
  • Noé, Noè, Noa — How cousins abroad may write him — French, Italian and several other languages trim or accent the name without really changing its sound. Handy to know when the birthday cards start arriving from overseas.

My daughters love the book! We read it every evening before bedtime. The story is so sweet and lovingly written, and the pictures are beautiful. My girls feel really special because their own name appears in the book. A great keepsake forever! Absolutely recommend. ❤️

We got the book as a birthday present and it turned out perfectly. The print quality pleasantly surprised me – hardcover, nice paper and illustrations printed in fine detail. The characters are drawn so well that my daughter recognized her sister, me, the giraffe and herself :) She really likes the story and now it’s her favourite book, we read it almost every evening. On top of that, it will remain a lovely keepsake that she’ll come back to even in a few years. I definitely recommend it.

An absolutely stunning book made to order. It's not only a beautiful gift, but a keepsake for a lifetime. Our sons are thrilled. Not only did they find “themselves” in the book, but the whole story also takes place in their favourite place, which is the ice rink. The whole book is accompanied by wonderful pictures, and the dedication from us, the parents, is just the cherry on top. I warmly recommend it. Not only will all the “heroes of the book” be thrilled, but so will you, as soon as you see the book with your own eyes :)

Our daughter was absolutely thrilled, she looked through it several times in a row and declared that it's pretty, she hasn't had enough of it yet and we read it every day before bedtime.

A great, sweet and inspiring book that won us over from the very first pages! ❤️ The story of Алекс and Марая inspired us to go to the forest together, to enjoy the autumn beauty, to learn more about the animals and their food, to collect pine cones, hazelnuts, acorns and chestnuts and to create a wonderful autumn decoration at home. 🍂🍁 We love books that we don’t just read, but turn into real family adventures! Thank you for this magical experience! 🥰

The book for my grandson’s christening arrived and I’m thrilled with it. I’m already looking forward to us flipping through it together as soon as he grows up a little. It’s great that you can also add a favourite thing or toy and it gets worked into the story. It’s great!!!

No — the ark belongs to the old story, and this book tells a new one. You choose the plot and the world yourself, from magic to everyday adventures, and the hero is your Noah, with his real likeness in the illustrations. The only thing he borrows from his ancient namesake is the name on the cover.
