A made-to-measure book
Charlotte already names a palace, a city and a dessert — its best job yet is naming the heroine of this book
Queens have carried it, Berlin built a palace for it, and bakers borrowed it for a pudding. But the name Charlotte does its finest work on a book cover — set above a girl you know, at the start of a story that belongs to her alone.

Here's how a book for Charlotte could look
Pick a theme, upload a photo, and your child becomes the hero of the story — with their name on the cover and inside.
CHARLOTTEand the Night of a Thousand Sparks
CHARLOTTEand the Cape That Changed Everything
CHARLOTTEand the Last-Minute Goal
The covers above are samples — the illustrations were created by artificial intelligence and the children in them aren't real. Your book is made from the photo you upload.
Why Charlotte belongs on a cover
Charlotte is a name with natural title posture. Three syllables that open on a soft shush and close like a full stop — say it slowly and you can almost hear a narrator clearing their throat. It carries itself like an announcement, which is exactly what a book cover asks a name to do.
And yet the girl who answers to it is rarely standing on ceremony. That gap — between the name with royal manners and the child who wears it with muddy boots — is what makes a personalized story land. When the chapter says that Charlotte tightened the straps of her backpack and stepped onto the mountain path, she isn't borrowing a heroine's name for the evening. It is her own name doing the thing it was built for. Read that sentence aloud at bedtime and watch what happens: children lean in differently when the heroine is not named something close to their name, but exactly, letter for letter, their name.
There is also a small injustice to correct. The most famous Charlotte in children's literature spun webs above a barn door and saved her best friend with well-chosen words. A noble legacy — but it is about time the name went to a girl who gets top billing, her own face in the illustrations, and her own name repeated on page after page until the very last one.
Where the name Charlotte comes from
Charlotte is French: the feminine form of Charlot, itself an affectionate diminutive of Charles. The root is the old Germanic word karl, "a free man" — which is why Charlotte is usually glossed as "free woman," a meaning that tends to prove itself by the time its owner turns three.
The name swept the English-speaking world in the eighteenth century with Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III. Her reach was remarkable: the city of Charlotte in North Carolina — still nicknamed the Queen City — was named in her honor, and by most accounts so was the charlotte, the molded dessert that borrowed her name for good. Add Charlottenburg Palace in Berlin, built for an earlier queen of the same name, and few girls' names can claim so much real estate.
The name has literary credentials of its own, too. Charlotte Brontë wrote Jane Eyre under it, and generations of novelists since have reached for Charlotte whenever they needed a heroine who sounds both grounded and a little grand — a shortcut your daughter now benefits from every time her name appears in print.
In our own century the name has been unstoppable. It has held a place in the American top ten for over a decade, spent several years as the number-one girls' name in Australia, and got a fresh coronation in 2015 when Princess Charlotte of Wales was born. Parents keep choosing it for the same reason writers do: it sounds finished. Formal enough for a title page, warm enough to be called up the stairs at bedtime.
Lottie, Charlie, Lotta — what Charlotte answers to
- Lottie — The warm, at-home short form — the name of pillow forts, gap-toothed grins and hot chocolate with extra marshmallows. If she is Lottie in your kitchen, she can be Lottie in her story too.
- Charlie — The playground version: quick to shout across a field, happiest in trainers. Charlottes who climb higher than they are supposed to often turn out to be Charlies. Nine letters give a family room to negotiate — few names shorten in so many directions without losing themselves.
- Lotta — The brisk continental cousin, common wherever the name traveled through German and Scandinavian nurseries. Rarer in English — which makes it a lovely secret nickname to have. It travels well: a Lotta is recognized from Stockholm to Vienna without a word of explanation.
- Char — The one-syllable shorthand that tends to arrive in the school years, usually from friends. Efficient, casual, and proof the name scales down as gracefully as it dresses up.

My daughters love the book! We read it every evening before bedtime. The story is so sweet and lovingly written, and the pictures are beautiful. My girls feel really special because their own name appears in the book. A great keepsake forever! Absolutely recommend. ❤️
We got the book as a birthday present and it turned out perfectly. The print quality pleasantly surprised me – hardcover, nice paper and illustrations printed in fine detail. The characters are drawn so well that my daughter recognized her sister, me, the giraffe and herself :) She really likes the story and now it’s her favourite book, we read it almost every evening. On top of that, it will remain a lovely keepsake that she’ll come back to even in a few years. I definitely recommend it.
The book was a gift… I’ll find out how happy it makes them… but it’s very beautiful
I have the books ready as a gift, so I’m already looking forward to handing them over
An absolutely stunning book made to order. It's not only a beautiful gift, but a keepsake for a lifetime. Our sons are thrilled. Not only did they find “themselves” in the book, but the whole story also takes place in their favourite place, which is the ice rink. The whole book is accompanied by wonderful pictures, and the dedication from us, the parents, is just the cherry on top. I warmly recommend it. Not only will all the “heroes of the book” be thrilled, but so will you, as soon as you see the book with your own eyes :)
Our daughter was absolutely thrilled, she looked through it several times in a row and declared that it's pretty, she hasn't had enough of it yet and we read it every day before bedtime.
The book is very nice. The pictures look very nice, they're not blurry. The book really made us happy.
Very beautiful book, I always have trouble choosing in a bookshop, something bothers me about every one, or I can't find a theme I'd want.. here I can make up anything
A great, sweet and inspiring book that won us over from the very first pages! ❤️ The story of Алекс and Марая inspired us to go to the forest together, to enjoy the autumn beauty, to learn more about the animals and their food, to collect pine cones, hazelnuts, acorns and chestnuts and to create a wonderful autumn decoration at home. 🍂🍁 We love books that we don’t just read, but turn into real family adventures! Thank you for this magical experience! 🥰
The book is just as I imagined it. It's a present for under the Christmas tree, so we'll see how the grandkids like it ♥
The book for my grandson’s christening arrived and I’m thrilled with it. I’m already looking forward to us flipping through it together as soon as he grows up a little. It’s great that you can also add a favourite thing or toy and it gets worked into the story. It’s great!!!
The book is very nice, it was bought as a gift, so Maťko hasn’t seen it yet

Whichever you choose. You type the hero's name exactly as your family says it, so the chapters can star Charlotte in full, or Lottie or Charlie if that is who she really is. Many families pick the full name for the cover simply because Charlotte typesets so handsomely in a title.
